One of the main goals of the consultancy was to achieve a sustainable and appropriate architecture utilizing environmentally conscious design techniques.
• Creating an harmonic relationship between existing nature (untouched rainforest), proposed nature (organic agriculture, zen gardens, water figures, etc) and proposed buildings, to achieve environmental and aesthetic outcomes, and an ideal state for meditation.
-Awareness and understanding about rainforest as a source of life, a lung of the planet. Creating a minor ecological footprint.
-Placing importance on views (volcanoes, river, specific windows to the forest)
-Designing the landscape
• Using appropriated Materials: Creating a catalog of building materials, typologies and methods of building according to the current Site Master Plan.
- Materials criteria: environmentally friendliness, renewability, durability, economic viability, healthy and available locally.
-Reviewing the Indonesian Green Building Council´s GREENSHIP guide.
-Taking in account: Zen design, cultural heritage and social impact.
• Incorporating passive design for proposed buildings. Understanding natural climate to maintain thermal comfort avoiding the consumption of non-renewable resources.
-Orientation of the building to control heat gains and heat loss
-Solar position and geometry
-Shape to control air flow
-Material to control heat
